Sam Update

Hello-

Just want to bring everyone up to speed… Once again I’m glad to report that Sam is doing great.  He’s breathing on his own and his blood/oxygen levels are very good.  Also, his digestive problem cleared up and he’s now being fed through a feeding tube and the IV feedings are being reduced.  The next step will be to feed by mouth.  Because he’s been on IV feedings so long, he needs to be retrained on the whole suckling process.  Judging how he suckles his pacifier, I’m thinking this won’t take to long.  He had a little setback with a blood infection, but that has cleared up also.  We still don’t know when he’s coming home, but the doctors say that they’re amazed with his progress.
