Sam is Home!

Sam is Home!

[singlepic id=68 w=320 h=240 float=right] We are so happy to announce that Sam is back home with us!  Laura pleaded her case to have him come home so that we can get him back into his routine and to give him the chance to get the rest he wasn’t getting in the hospital, and the doctors agreed.  So, yesterday afternoon, Laura and his Aunt Colleen brought him home where he belongs.

So now we’re working to get him comfortable and back in his groove.  It’s almost like we need to regain his trust.  The poor little guy has been poked and prodded so much for the past two weeks that he’s giving us the same “skunk eye” that he would give the nurses whenever they came into his room.  But I can see that he’s already starting to relax.  Last night he had his first real bath since the operation, and when Laura was brushing his hair like the “old” times, we could tell he was enjoying it as much as he used to.  After I read him a story, “The Cranky Bear”, we tried to get him to sleep.  Since his feeds are currently much longer than before his surgery, we can’t just put him to bed like we did before.  But we did the best we could and we all tried to get as much sleep as possible under the circumstances.  It wasn’t much, but it was better than in the hospital, and I got a small taste of what Laura went through for the past week while staying with Sam.  This morning we could tell he wasn’t coughing as much, and he was even smiling a little; something that was very rare while in the hospital.  He’s still pretty crabby, but we’re sure he’ll feel better over time.

As for Max, he was still sneezing and had a runny nose, so just to be safe, he stayed with his Mimi M. last night.  Besides that, he’s pretty happy, so we’re hoping that he can come home with us, and we’ll finally all be back together again as a family.  I had planned on taking Max out for Halloween, but since he’s not feeling 100%, we’ll probably just take it easy this year so he has a chance to recover.

Again, I want to thank everyone who kept Sam in their thoughts and prayers, and hope that you’ll continue to pray for his complete recovery.

    George and family –

I am SO thankful to hear that Little Sam is home and is getting back to his old self. What a relief that must be to ALL of you – I imagine even the dog felt out of sorts the last few weeks.

However, I am not going to drop you folks from my prayers. This was a major stressor and all of you will need a few extra helpings of love in the next few weeks. (Hey – who doesn’t need that all the time?)

At the same time I have to say kudos for a job well done – to all of you – your wife, your doctor, Sam, his brother and even that old dog!

    Much affection,

    Rish
