A Recap of 2009

January 1st…  the day on which folks typically make resolutions for the coming year and reflect on the previous one; typically.  Being in this family we have learned typical is simply not us.  Having contemplated the year that was 2009 we came up with a list of random tidbits that we think accurately reflect our days.  Enjoy.

• We have been parents for 359 AMAZING days;
• We have used approximately 4,308 diapers (I almost wish I hadn’t known that!);
• We have done approximately 104 loads of baby laundry;
• We had 15 appointments with Sam’s cardiologist (we love Dr. V and his fantastic team!);
• 58…  the number of days Sam spent in the hospital; way too many (our goal for 2010 is ZERO!);
• We had 2,256 different readers on this blog;
• We purchased approximately 204 cans of baby formula.  Ugh… Sigh… $$$;
• I pumped breast milk for SIX months (I swear I still hear the sound of the pump in my sleep);
• We welcomed many friends and family from out of town this year.  We are so happy so many of you were able to come and visit.  We love you… Mimmy B, Uncle Michael, Uncle Angelo &  Aunt Nancy, Ariana & Dev, Aunt Trish & Uncle Steve, Chris & Brent, Aunt Joan, and Aunt Mary & Leigh (Aunt Trish you WIN for most visits; we hope you all can come even more in 2010);
• We have purchased approximately 475+ containers of baby food;
• No drought this year; we received 61.74″ of rain;
• We have filled FIVE BIG Rubbermaid tubs with outgrown baby clothes…Thanks Aunt Colleen!;
• Sam gained 14 pounds and 3 ounces in 2009 making his year ending weight 20.4;
• Max gained 13 pounds and 7 ounces in 2009 making his year ending weight 20.9;
• Sweetie and I would prefer not to discuss our weight gains for 2009, but we’re working to go in the opposite direction;
• 30+…  the number of times I have changed Sam’s NG tube.  I can’t wait for that dreaded chore to end;
• Over 1200 pictures taken with our trusty Kodak;
• Four…  the maximum number of consecutive hours sleep Sweetie and I were able to get this year; so worth it but we’re aiming for a little more;
• The number of times pizza was delivered to our home…  ONLY TWO;
• Sweetie read 10 books on his Kindle this year after purchasing it in March.  I read 2-3.  I used to read one a week; my how times have changed;
• Three…  the number of times I earned and LOST my sparkly Pro Bowl in Wii Bowling.

I love the trivial odds and ends of our life.  There are plenty of other statistics that we could add, but this is just a small reflection of our year and all of the happiness we’ve experienced in 2009.  Here’s hoping we have an even more incredible 2010!
